Joseph Halpern
Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer, Obsidian CIO
Joe Halpern is an investment executive with 30 years of experience across institutional asset management, portfolio construction, alternative investments, derivatives, structured products, and complex investment strategy. He currently serves as Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Obsidian CIO, where he oversees investment strategy for sophisticated families and wealth management firms, including approximately $2 billion in assets on behalf of one of America's most prominent multi-generational industrial families.
Earlier in his career, Joe held Director-level investment and trading roles at Lehman Brothers Holdings and ING Financial Markets. He began his career at Letco Specialists, later acquired by TD Securities, where he became the youngest partner in the firm's history and managed a derivatives trading division while serving as a primary market maker on the American Stock Exchange.
Joe is also recognized for his expertise in derivatives and complex markets and has provided subject-matter guidance to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
